Are You an Outlaw?Next EventFriday, May 16th, 2008Last minute show... Come see what a last minute show looks like, we do it well. Details:
MissionIn this world that we live in, experience is a relative thing to every person one might encounter during the course of their life. But there are some experiences that resonate more than others. These experiences take us to a different place, a more visceral, unrestrained place. Music, the most ancient language, can often be the catalyst for those experiences. We know that this concept is not one lost upon humanity. There are an overwhelming number of people that try to tap into this reservoir. The music industry is suffering a serious plague of people more interested in using the magic of music for deceit and strictly material gain. It's sad that all too frequently people with little to no talent or ability, make it to the top of "charts" and tell people what we should be listening to and what should move us. What ever happens to the bands that are truly talented and really have something to say? It seems to us; often enough, that their valiant efforts go unrecognized and they give in to apathy. But, from time to time there are some who persevere. And through putting themselves on the line, make a difference. That is who we are. We are a band of brothers who have been given this gift of music and vision. We will never stop putting ourselves into our art. We hope that one day everyone can share with us the fulfillment we get when we play our music; for us, for you, for the world. We often speculate who it is that gives these hacks the opportunity to be of the elite. Sadly, it's those who cultivate their lives all in the name of business and capital that decide these things. The culprits are the money grubbing power mongers who make $2.49 off of every ring tone you purchase, or $0.70 of every $0.99 song from places like iTunes®. They seek to vilify and destroy anyone who thinks differently by smothering them until they are voiceless. People start to label artists when they start selling well and gaining popularity as "sell outs." This is untrue. Most of the time it's the label, promoters, distributors, right down to the bars and venues in which bands bring music to you that make the money. We feel that if someone is doing something great and are able to expose people to it and enhance their lives, they should be rewarded for it. Musicians put countless hours into songs that you at some point considered to be important. We agree that certain bands sell out. These are easily seen and it happens when they start making music for what they think people want, not music that they believe to be the best damn music they can put out there. We have no inclination to do this, and so long as people support us, and understand us, we never will. Most of us would rather work low paying crappy honest jobs, than manufacture music with the sole purpose of being shoved down the public's throat. We make music for the Outlaws, for the disgruntled, for every one of your bad days, and the good ones too. Moments to remember, places you.ve been, people you know. We exist for every raw, guttural, savage facet we all are and ever could be. Join us in our revolution. Free yourself from the misgivings of our society. Embrace yourselves and never let anyone tell you different. Be an Outlaw! -The Blue Eyed Gunslingers |
